Upon arrival at Melbourne Airport you will be met & assisted by our local representative. You depart for The Terrace Reception Centre and morning/Devonshire Tea at 9am. This is followed by a 3 hour city sightseeing tour before you are taken to your chosen hotel. The remainder of your day is at leisure.

Melbourne is often called Australia’s most “European city”.  It is also known as the cultural, culinary and financial centre of the country.  With its wide tree-lined boulevards, elegant public buildings and expansive gardens, Melbourne possesses an abundance of classic beauty.  Melburnians are sports fanatics and it is here were the infamous game of Aussie Rules Football began.  The city boasts some great sporting facilities such as the MCG (Melbourne Cricket ground) with the Australian Gallery of Sport as well as the Flemington racecourse where the prestigious Melbourne Cup is held on the first Tuesday in November. Melbourne has over 2000 restaurants offering a staggering variety of world-class cuisines.  Its pubs are venues for some of the best jazz, soul, rock and folkbands; its discos and nightclubs are the most lavish and exclusive in the country.  Many of the theatres and concert halls are home to the cream of local and international talent.
Areas of interest include: Captain’s Cook Cottage in Fitzroy Gardens; Shrine of Remembrance, a WW1 memorial on St. Kilda Road; Yarra River cruises; The Victorian Arts Centre and the National Gallery; Como House overlooking the Yarra River; the lively seaside suburb of St. Kilda; Williamstown at the mouth of the Yarra River.

Today is at leisure until your first taste in the afternoon of the Australian Tennis Open

17 JAN  NATURE WALKABOUT – KANGAROOS & KOALAS IN THE WILD  (B)
This morning a chance to meet some locals! On this naturalist-guided ecotour, spend the morning in the famous grasslands and around the billabongs of our Open-range Sanctuary in the company of hundreds of wild Kangaroos, dozens of Emus and many species of birds. In the afternoon, walk amongst the gum trees in a National Park and see wild Koalas. Your guide will involve you in our research which contributes to locating and understanding these wonderful animals.
The afternoon is free before an evening of tennis.

18 JAN AUSTRALIAN OPEN TENNIS (B)
The morning is at leisure, before the afternoon session of the tennis.

19 JAN FREE DAY IN MELBOURNE  (B)
Free day to choose one of the many activities today and this evening.

20 JAN MELBOURNE TO CAIRNS  (B)
After breakfast, you are transferred to the airport for your flight Cairns. Upon arrival at Cairns Airport you will be met & transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Cairns is your gateway to some of the best scenery in Australia. Cairns is the heart of the Tropical North, and as such provides an ideal base for exploring and enjoying the rich, varied pleasures of this region. Founded in 1876 as the port for inland goldfields, Cairns has matured from a flighty frontier town to friendly international gateway and has become the most welcoming of all Queensland cities.  The Great Barrier Reef itself is one of nature's wonders of the World.

Today is a free day in Cairns to choose your favorite activity.

22 JAN   QUICKSILVER CRUISES OUTER REEF CRUISE  (B, L)
Today may be the highlight of your entire trip. Do not forget to bring your bathers, towel, sun hat, and sun screen. Travel along the scenic Captain Cook Highway and the Northern beaches to the fishing village of Port Douglas. You will be taken to the Marina Mirage to spend the day on the Great Barrier Reef. One of the world's largest catamaran takes you to Agincourt Reef on the Outer Great Barrier Reef. On the way out there will be on-board educational presentations by trained biologists. Once at the reef, there is a pontoon to wander about and a choice of ways to explore the reef, guided snorkelling, or a semi-submersible for fish and coral viewing. A wonderful seafood lunch is provided before returning to Port Douglas and your journey back to Cairns.

After breakfast you are at leisure until the transfer to the airport for your onward flight to Sydney.

26 JAN HUNTER VALLEY SIGHTSEEING & FAREWELL DINNER (B, L, D)
The Hunter Valley is Australia’s oldest commercial wine producing district established over 150 years ago with over 7000 acres under vine. It is credited with being one of the finest wine growing regions in the world. Two of its most famous wine styles are the Semillon (often called Hunter Riesling) and the

Shiraz (Hermitage or Burgundy). The Lower Hunter wine region has a well deserved reputation for Chardonnay, Shiraz, Semillon and the earthy Pinot Noirs.

Departing Sydney, travel over the Sydney Harbour Bridge to the north shore via the Gore Hill Freeway to join the Pacific Highway. Join the F3 Freeway to cross the Hawkesbury River at Brooklyn. This area is renowned as a premier oyster-growing district.

You will have the first opportunity for wine tasting at Tamburlaine, which has developed an enviable reputation as one of the most innovative and quality conscious of the Hunter’s boutique wineries. A relaxed and informative introduction to each new wine may be gained in the Cellar with people who have a practical understanding of the winemaking process. Tamburlaine wines are available exclusively from the winery cellar door. Lunch is at the Hunter Valley Resort, which is followed by another opportunity to sample the local wine.

MELBOURNE

Phillip Island Penguins & Wildlife viewing platform $147 Per person
Today you travel to Phillip Island. We will exit the city centre via exclusive Bayside suburbs of St Kilda, Brighton and Beaumaris, across the San Remo Bridge to Phillip Island. The Penguin Reserve on Phillip Island is also home to the Koala Conservation Centre where we will break for a stroll amongst the koalas on a treetop boardwalk.  We approach the Penguin Reserve Visitors Centre before sunset. Here you will be able to experience The Penguins Plus viewing; this is an exclusive viewing platform and boardwalk in a high penguin traffic area. It is estimated that approximately 50 per cent of all penguins cross the beach in front of this stand. The boardwalk is limited to 180 guests per night. Included is the rental of an MP4 audio tour. The audio runs for approximately 30 minutes and talks to you about the little penguins, the history of the penguin parade, research and environment.

 

Yarra Valley Wine Experience: $124,00 per person

Take in some of Victoria's best wineries in the stunning region of the Yarra Valley only one hour from Melbourne. The tour features tutored tastings at 4 premium wineries, a superb winery restaurant lunch with wine, finishing the day at the home of Australia's No.1 bubbly, Domaine Chandon, for light tasting platters and a glass of sparkling.

 

Kuranda Scenic Rail: $230.00 per person

The Classic Kuranda Experience includes the main attractions of Kuranda, but gives you more free time to explore Kuranda. You will travel to Kuranda by scenic railway and then spend some free time in the village. Wander through the many shops and local markets, which offer a full range of local handicrafts, souvenirs, and gifts. You will then be transferred to Rainforestation Nature Park, where you will enjoy a delicious Australian BBQ lunch, a guided tour of the rainforest on board an amphibious Army Duck, and the Pamagirri Aboriginal Dance performance, followed by the Dreamtime Walk, where you will learn how to throw a boomerang, see spear-throwing demonstrations, and aboriginal culture. A guided tour of the Koala & Wildlife Park will commence at the Cultural Centre. Your coach will then transfer you to Kuranda Skyrail Terminal for the 7.5-kilometre Skyrail journey down the mountain. Your coach will then return you to your accommodation.

Cape Tribulation Daintree: $205.00 per person

Your naturalist guide will meet you at your accommodation and, after introductions; you will drive north along the scenic route to Mossman. Lush farmland contrasts with seascape, as you approach the majestic Daintree River. There will be time for a short morning tea break then it's "all aboard" for an informative river cruise. You will ascend the Alexandra Range and pause for a panoramic view of World Heritage-listed tropical rainforest merging with the azure colours of the Coral Sea. Experience the rainforest intimately on the elevated National Park Boardwalk. A delicious barbecue lunch with freshly prepared salads is served while you have the opportunity to hand feed a kangaroo and enjoy a cold drink from the bar. At Cape Tribulation Beach, there is a little time to swim in the Coral Sea (seasonal) or stroll along the beach.
After a short afternoon refreshment stop, cross the Daintree River by cable ferry and begin your homeward journey, somewhat wiser, after your "Total Rainforest Experience".

White Water Rafting on the Barron River (1/2 day): $100 per person

Experience the thrill of white water rafting down the Barron River, North Queenslands most exciting half day tour. No previous experience is necessary to raft these exhilarating grade 2 and 3 rapids through Barron Gorge National Park. Aboriginal Cultural Cruise: $110  Price  

Afternoon journey to discover the stories of the Eora, Cadigal, Guringai, Wangal, Gammeraigal and Wallumedegal people. Come ashore on an island in Sydney Harbour to an authentic Aboriginal cultural performance. Learn the Aboriginal names and meanings of significant Sydney landmarks and uncover traditional fishing methods and food gathering techniques. On arrival back at Circular Quay, you are on your own time to make your way back to the hotel at your leisure.
