Apply for a Passport
You can apply for a passport at many Post Offices™ around the country. At some locations, they will even take your passport photos for an additional fee. To renew your passport, you must be 16 or older and eligible to use Form DS-82. http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/passports/renew.html

In case of an emergency or last minute passport you can schedule an appointment with your local passport agency to acquire a passport within 48 hours or less.

What should you bring?

1. Your Completed Application
You can complete it online through the State Department’s web site, or print and complete it by hand. New applicants, renewals, name changes or corrections, and lost or stolen passports each require a different application. http://travel.state.gov/passport/forms/forms_847.html

2. Two Types of Identification, with Copies of Each
You’ll need one proving U.S. citizenship…

 … and one current I.D. Previously issued, undamaged U.S. passport

3. One Passport Photo
Your photos should be in color, identical, and taken within the past 6 months. They should be 2" x 2" with a full-face, front view (head should measure between 1" and 1 3/8"), and a plain white or off-white background. For a $15 additional fee, some Post Offices can take these for you.

4. Payment for Applicable Fees
Basic passport fees are…

Adult first time – $110 with an acceptance fee of $25

Minor (under 16) – $80 with an acceptance fee of $25

Passport card – add $15 for minors, $30 for adults

Adult renewal – $110

How should you pay?
If you’re paying an acceptance fee, you’ll need to pay it separately and directly to USPS®.
